EcoTruth 101 eLearning Course Is Now Available

We are pleased to announce that the GreenGuard eLearning course “EcoTruth 101 – Decoding Greenwashing” is now available online.

This course has been developed as part of the GreenGuard project to help young people, youth workers, educators, organisations and citizens better understand greenwashing and recognise misleading environmental claims. In today’s digital and consumer environment, sustainability messages are everywhere. However, not every “green” claim reflects real environmental responsibility. That is why EcoTruth 101 offers a clear, practical and accessible learning path for anyone who wants to become more informed, critical and confident when evaluating environmental communication.

Through short lessons, real-world examples and interactive learning elements, participants are guided through the key concepts of greenwashing, common tactics used in misleading environmental messages, and the importance of transparency, evidence and responsible communication. The course combines reading materials, reflection prompts, quizzes, interactive activities and practical examples, allowing learners to connect the topic with everyday situations, products, services and online content.

The eLearning course is designed to be flexible and user-friendly. Participants can follow the lessons at their own pace, revisit the content whenever needed and use the materials as a basis for further discussion in youth work, education, training or organisational settings. The course is especially useful for those who want to strengthen their critical thinking skills and contribute to more honest and meaningful conversations about sustainability.

After completing the eLearning course, participants can take the EcoTruth 101 Knowledge Test, available in several project languages. The test checks understanding of the main course topics, including the language, tactics and regulation of misleading environmental claims. Upon successful completion of the test, participants can receive a certificate, confirming their participation and acquired knowledge.

With this eLearning course, GreenGuard aims to support genuine environmental progress by empowering learners to ask better questions, identify misleading claims and promote more responsible sustainability practices.

The course and knowledge test are available on the GreenGuard platform:
